Twigs snap, dog barks echo and stones crunch underfoot. Voices narrating fairytales; spectacular fantasies woven out of the everyday. This playlist is dedicated to the experimental musician Mira Calix (1969 –2022). Braided together with her songs, encounter the goose-flesh inducing whispers of Félicia Atkinson, the electronic Greek poetry of Lena Platonos, and percussionist Midori Takeda’s pattering, rain-like beats. Channelling the spirit of Calix, these composers capture the intimacy of tiny noises; rhythmic words, groans and sighs – the sound of quotidian desires.
