“I can see the world in a way that you can’t, and the way that I see it is actually really great so you should come on the ride with me.” Carlos Motta’s work addresses the politics of sex and gender, with particular regard to the creation of counter narratives that recognize suppressed histories, communities, and identities. In his installations he uses multiple mediums such as video, performance and writing, often several in combination. Known for his engagement in queer culture and activism, he articulates definite positions against social and political injustice. Carlos opens up multiple possibilities in content and form with regards to research and documentary aesthetics.
