Rushing to cafés to jot down important scenes and shots after watching films in theatres, director Sho Miyake unintentionally trained himself for filmmaking. The characters in Miyake’s films have harmonious and natural relationships with each other, as well as with the camera, exuding a feeling of effortlessness and putting emphasis on documentation, on capturing mundane moments. Miyake fell in love with filmmaking in his third year of junior high school and has been making movies ever since, ones which shed light on our desires to live freely and candidly, such as Small, Slow But Steady (2022) and All the Long Nights (2024).
