Johannesburg-based photographer Sabelo Mlangeni subtely captures intimacy, mostly in black and white format. Balancing upon the dual notions of community and communing, Sabelo closely documents a new South Africa. From the unguarded moments of worker’s hostels, to a young couple embracing in an empty playground, Sabelo is most well-known for the series Country Girls, which portrays queer life in rural areas of Mpumalanga province. Peer through Sabelo’s sensitive lens to see bodies dancing in unison, reconciling and drifting between luminescent frames.
