Dutch poet and spoken word artist Roan Kassanmondi infuses his work with feverish, abstract language enveloped in pop culture references and everyday colloquialisms. A fascination for human impulses and a desperate search for meaning guide Roan through his poetic existence, whispering promises of alluring connections between inner and outer worlds in his debut poetry book Vuurbloem (2024), which takes the reader on a journey that includes the quay of Rottterdam and the racing circuits of Mario Kart. Apart from performing and writing poetry, Roan is part of the dance collective ERROR 404, intertwining various disciplines throughout his practice. His pursuit of an education in psychology has granted him a cognitive awareness that animates his poetry and dance with an unmistakable perceptiveness towards the human condition.
