Visual and performance artist Rana Hamadeh awakens new discursive tools to investigate infrastructures of justice, militarism, histories of sanitation and theatre. Her ongoing project Alien Encounters aims to cautiously complicate the notion of ‘alienness’ and question the authority of certain voices, ultimately giving visibility to erased or unrecorded viewpoints. Through performances, choreographic and cartographic works, sound and text-based installations-as-stage-sets, writing projects and conversations, Rana delicately produces multi-faceted works to emphasise alternative methods of thinking.
