Sharing unheard stories and voices that are often made invisible, Hasan Gök is vulnerable and sincere in his work as a poet and spoken word artist. He examines the intricate and intimate emotions that accompany his diverse identity as the son of a Turkish father and a Kurdish mother, raised in Dutch society, to ultimately resist the boxes and prejudices that exist within different communities. With a distinct writing style that is partly inspired by the metaphorical and poetic nature of the Turkish language, Hasan shares his words as a writer and performer of Poetry Circle as well as by participating in events at PAARD, Amare, Mensen Zeggen Dingen, Van Gogh Museum, Brainwash Festival, Zwarte Schaap and Omroep West. In addition to his poetry, Hasan is a much sought-after host, creating safe spaces and platforms for honest conversations, where everyone can comfortably share their stories.
