Jens Meijen finds that he can constantly and candidly express himself when writing. Trying out strange metaphors to examine how our world is chaotic and sometimes incomprehensible, his poetry and stories are refreshing. He values freedom when composing his texts, imposing fewer rules on himself regarding meter and rhyme to create pieces that are intended for the ear, the eye and the body. Working as a doctoral researcher in political science at KU Leuven and having published award-winning works such as his first poetry collection Xenomorf (2019) which won the C. Buddingh’-prijs for best Dutch-language debut in 2020, Jens cultivates his many interests to relate to fellow human beings.
