All of Elianna Kan’s work, in one way or another, revolves around translation: how stories translate from one language to another, how art translates from one time to another, how writers translate or transmute one another. As a literary agent, writer and translator, Elianna is most interested in writers and artists who bear testament to what Tennessee Williams called ‘the wild of heart that are kept in cages’ — those individuals whose vitality refuses to be kept in a cage. She elegantly writes of one of these individuals, Alejandro Jodorowsky, for the recurring The Protagonist of the Erotic feature in Extra Extra no. 21, digging deeper on an interview she conducted with the filmmaker for The Paris Review.
