Chiara Siravo is a design historian, researcher and curator with special expertise on the topic of her MA thesis: the material culture of hell and the underworld. She skilfully looks into how hell, as a geographical space and a parallel world, not only spills over into the histories and contemporary structures of colonialism, extraction and technology, but also how Western culture approaches hell as a mystery that needs to be solved. In an episode for Extra Extra’s Nightwalker podcast, Chiara takes us around Il Borgo, home to the Vatican in Rome, probing the mystery behind the migrations of pigeons, people and stories through the cherished streets and shop fronts that she has called home since she was a child.
