Alexis Pauline Gumbs believes that everything can be a story. To her, the way we behave and the actions we take are the results of the stories we believe. As a writer, scholar and activist, she makes use of storytelling and creative expression to create opportunities to bring us into the rhythm of a new possibility and new ways of thinking. A co-founder of Black Feminist Film School, she is dedicated to studying and producing works with a Black feminist ethic. Her book Survival Is a Promise: The Eternal Life of Audre Lorde (2024), illuminates the eternal life of American writer Audre Lorde in a bold, innovative biography that offers a new understanding of her life, work, and enduring impact.
