Tempered by a Dutch sardonic edge, Daniël Vis’ poetry is compulsively readable: sentence-for-sentence, the gripping candour and clipped prose style of his writing evoke imagery of a constantly changing and slightly psychotic world. Since moving to Utrecht to study philosophy, Daniël has released his debut collection of poetry Crowdsurfen op laag water (Crowdsurfing at low tide, 2014), which addresses contemporary and sometimes unsettling themes closely acquainted to his personal life. Comfortable on the stage, Daniël has won the Dutch national championships in poetry slam and has performed at various festivals across the Netherlands including Lowlands and North Sea Poetry, where he continues to spread his affectionately humorous and sincere poetry.
